Website Privacy

Last updated: 18 September 2026

This notice covers notch.ashmm.app, the website you are reading now. It does not cover the Notch app. The app has its own Privacy Policy, linked in the navigation above, and contains no advertising or tracking software of any kind.

Why this is a separate notice

Notch is local-first: your records stay on your device and nothing about advertising runs inside the app. This website is a marketing site, and here we do measure our ads. Keeping the two notices apart means neither one describes something the other does not do.

Advertising measurement

We advertise the app on Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To learn which of those ads actually bring people here, this website can load Meta Pixel, a measurement tool provided by Meta.

It is off by default. Nothing loads and nothing is sent to Meta until you choose "Accept cookies" on the banner shown on your first visit. If you reject it, or ignore the banner, the tool never loads at all. It runs only on our home page.

If you accept, Meta receives:

  • Your IP address, browser and device type, and which page you are viewing
  • The time of your visit, and whether you tapped a link to the App Store
  • Cookies and similar identifiers Meta stores in your browser so it can recognise a repeat visit

What Meta does not receive

  • Your name or email address
  • Whether you went on to install the app
  • Anything you record in the app: no expenses, amounts, accounts, groups or notes

We use this only to compare our own ads against each other.

Meta's own use of this data

Once Meta receives this data it acts as an independent controller for its own purposes, under its own terms, and may transfer the data outside your country, including to the United States. If that matters to you, read Meta's data policy before accepting.

Counting installs

When you arrive here from one of our ads, the App Store link you tap carries a campaign label. Apple counts how many installs each label produced and reports that total back to us. The label describes the ad, not you: everybody arriving from the same ad carries the same label, and Apple's report is a count with nothing in it that identifies anyone. Visitors who did not arrive from an ad get an ordinary App Store link with no label at all.

Changing your answer

You can change your answer at any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer of our home page. Rejecting stops the tool sending anything further and keeps it from loading on later visits. Clearing your browser's site data for this website removes both the stored answer and the identifiers Meta set.
